SOUTH EASTERN WELSH SPRINGER SPANIEL CLUB – SPRING WALK

Once again, by popular demand, we will be holding our Spring dog walk on Sunday 3rd May 2009 at Hunts Common, Hartley Wintney.

Please join us once again for a leisurely stroll over Hunts Common in the Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney for our annual Spring Walk.  Those who have been before will agree that this is a most enjoyable afternoon for owners and dogs alike.  The walk takes us through bluebell woods, open common and mature beech woods, and there is a river with a shallow ford towards the end so some of the mud gathered on the way can be washed off!  The route takes about 2 hours and can be quite muddy in parts, so boots or stout walking shoes are recommended.

We meet at the Cricketers pub by the green at 1.30pm for a 1.45pm start.  Those wishing to have lunch beforehand should meet from 12 noon at the pub, where refreshments are available; alternatively, bring a picnic to enjoy next to the green.

Everyone is invited back to the Methodist Hall in the High Street for tea and cakes at the end of the walk – thank you to local member Thelma Cox for arranging this.  As numbers seem to increase every year, a plate of cakes, bought or home-made would be much appreciated.  Pet owners and families are especially welcome, so we look forward to seeing you there.

Directions:  Hartley Wintney is on the A30 mid-way between Basingstoke and Camberley (also mid-way between junctions 4a and 5 on the M3).  From the A30 at Hartley Wintney take the A323 towards Fleet, but just a few yards along and before you get into second gear, turn left and follow the road round to the cricket green – the Cricketers pub is on the left facing the green.
