SEWSSC Jan 27th Open Show

Firstly I would like to thank the committee and exhibitors for such a lovely day, my first breed club appointment and with a total of 96 entries and only a few absentees I had a beautiful selection of Welshies, with fantastic temperaments and was lovely to see so many waggy tails and smiley faces. I had some hard decisions to make but was very pleased with my final line up.

Veteran Dog (4/ 1a)

1st Worth’s ShCH Shandwick Kristoffer at Sarabande ShCM – (BVIS) 8 years old and looked stunning both in profile and on the move, correct angulation and moved true, lovely soft expression. This boy was worthy of Best Veteran in Show

2nd Tubb’s Parkmist Master Dance for Alsutu – Whilst older the 1st, he moved with drive and most defiantly didn’t show his age,  nice dark eye and a very happy chappy, just slightly more upright in the shoulder  then 1st

3rd Smith’s Amblelight Mercury

Minor Puppy Dog (1)

1st Hey’s Highclare High as a Kite(BPD)  At just 8 months old this boy already has the correct movement, he has a nice length of neck and rise over the loin,  his coat is still to come. Shame his handler was unable to move him out due to an injury but he is one to watch.

Puppy Dog (1)

1st Isherwood Amblelight Trapizium Star – just over 9 months this lad has promise, lovely dark eye and plenty of coat in excellent condition, unfortunately he was giving his handler a hard time on the day so was hard to see him move but was good see him enjoying himself, once this boy has settled and with a few more training classes this boy should do well.

Junior Dog (4/ 1a)

1st Starkey’s Glenbrows Falcon at Mynthurst – at Just 12 months old this boy has a lovely outline, good muscle tone. Very nice deep red coat in super condition, he could do with a little more substance but this will come, moved well and held his topline on the move, super temperament.

2nd LuckettRoynon Solva Giorgio - just turned 12 months and was a little fidgety for his handler, would have liked to see him move out to see that rear drive.  In profile he has a lovely shape and plenty of bone, nice tight feet and lovely dark eye, was a close decision with 1st

3rd Rumbelow’s  Killena Mr Moonlight

Special Yearling Dog (3)

1st Barkley’s Cherryheath Mr Mischief JW – (RBIS) This masculine boy has a lot of promise, he has that look at me presence as soon as he enters the ring.  Well made with lovely deep chest and good spring of ribs, moved with plenty of drive showed and handled superbly, correct rise over the loin and held correct position on the move.

Post graduate Dog (1)

1st Wright’s Amblelight Alioth – Shame he stood alone in the class, this 4 year old boy has well laid shoulders, once he focused he moved well, holding his position on the move and driving from the rear.

Limit Dog (4/1a)

1st Caldwell & McDowell’s Gemill Back to the Future for Cerysan JW (BD) (BIS) What a stunner this boy is, handled and showed in an exemplary manner.  In excellent condition, moved with drive and purpose, This well balanced dog has a kind eye and expression, nice length of neck, set in to well laid shoulders, deep chest, and well-muscled throughout. When he moves and in profile he holds his topline with correct rise over the loin, tail continued to wag all day.  This boy is in a class of his own and is a credit to the breed.

2nd Smith’s Amblelight Mercury   saw this boy in Veteran, again would have liked to see him move out a little more to see his full potential, nice tight feet and kind eye correct chiselling under the eye, shown in good condition.

2nd Barkelys Parkmist Miss Flirtatious - another 9 years old who continues to move well, coat not as flat as I would like but she still held her own and has lovely qualities.

3rd Buckwells Killena Hakuna Matata

Minor Puppy Bitch (4/1a)

1st Woodward and Thomas Bowdonia Time to Dream (BPIS) What a cracker this youngster is, lovely broken coat shown in beautiful condition, moved like a winner and when you look at this bitch in profile and on the move you can see she is well balanced and angles are proportionate, short coupled and correct rise over loin.  Very pretty face that melts your heart. Looking forward to seeing how this youngster progresses against her sister in the future.

2nd Brown & Rockingham’s Glenbrows Duet – lovely bitch but gave her handler a hard time, forgivable as she is so young but feel with a little more training my first place needs to keep an eye on this one as she is going to be one to watch.  Plenty of substance and again short coupled with nice tight feet

Graduate Bitch (5)

1st Thomas’s Bowdonia Star Catcher JW – this girl has attitude and she knows it.  Cracking outline and moved like she owned the ring, strong forequarters and deep chest would have preferred a little more angle in the rear quarters to complete the picture, shown is super condition she was a contender in the final line up.

2nd Charles Menstonia Iolanthe of Stagarth – A little older than first but this bitch held her own, could do with a little less coat to show her full potential as its not till you get your hands on her that you can appreciate her.  Close contender for first just would have preferred a little more drive from the rear.
